Facts:
Motor neurone illness was a factor in Diane Pretty's application (MND).
The muscles deteriorate and waste away as a result of this disease of the motor neurons in the central nervous system.
This has an impact on the muscles used for breathing, speaking, and swallowing in addition to those used for movement of the body.
Those who have it usually die a slow, inhumane death because there is no known medication or cure for it.
Advanced MND was present in the applicant.
She required a feeding tube and was fed via it because she was paralysed from the neck down.
She was afraid that she was going to die slowly and inhumanely.
She lacked the ability to commit suicide.
She communicated in writing with the public defender's office.
